My festival make up essentials with Cosmetify

I’m definitely still recovering from Download Festival on Sunday, and so between winding down from the festivals I’ve attended so far this year, and planning the next ones (hopefully Boardmasters and Victorious in August) I thought I’d take some time to reflect on my festival make-up essentials and my favourite festival looks.

Cosmetify are celebrating the festival season with their #festivalfix campaign – highlighting all their festival must-haves, as well as celebrating the fact that their site is a go-to destination for all things hair, beauty, skincare and electricals (so you can find all the essentials in one place).  I was excited to be asked to be a part of their campaign and to pick all of my essentials to get you in the mood for partying in a field with a can of cider!  I love the fact that you can really get creative and fun with your hair and make-up when you’re going to a festival, and the fact that festival looks and fashion tend to change year on year (often led by Coachella, which kicks off the festival season in April).  This year Coachella was awash with denim, neons and sundresses as well as the usual boho vibes.  The neon trend extended to make-up looks too, as well as the usual dashings of glitter, space buns and metallic lips.

Here are my go-to items when creating a festival make up look:

I am a highlighter fiend at the best of times but when it comes to festival season I think shimmering cheekbones (okay, my whole face) is a must.  The Anastasia Dream Glow kit [1] has a varied selection of highlighters so you can create a subtle look (never) or something more radiant and glowing.

The Anastasia Dip Brow [2] is my daily brow fix and I tend to do a stronger brow as part of a festival look – if I’m adding lots of glitter and highlighter I want to make sure my brows don’t get lost in the melee of colour!

Metallic lips were all the rage at Coachella – I used the Lime Crime Diamond Crushers [3] lip topper on Sunday to add a sparkling and iridescent overlay to my lip colour.  It’s such a multipurpose product too, you can add it to eyelids or even décolletage for added shimmer.

The MAC Prep and Prime Mist [4] is another product that I use every day but also comes into its own for festivals. Used before you start your make-up as well as when you’ve finished applying, it really sets and mattifies your face, as well as feeling really refreshing.  When you’re dancing around in a field for hours on end the last thing you want is your make-up sliding down your face, and this product is a God-send.

Another MAC product I love for festivals is their Galactic Glitter [5] – you can get lots of different varieties of this fun product, but the stars and hearts are perfect for parties.  You can use the MAC Duo Adhesive to apply to eyelids, or blend the glitter products in with a Cream Colour Base.

Lime Crime really is my go-to brand for festival looks and I used their Venus Palette 2 [6] on Sunday to create a dramatic eye.  I adore all the shades in this palette and there’s a real variety of matte and pearl finishes.

Finally, I love the idea of this Rimmel Heart Stamp [7] – I would definitely use this around my eyes to add a bit edge to a make-up look! You can also get stars and moons, I think this is an absolute essential for my make-up bag (perhaps not for work days, but definitely for festivals!)

What are your go-to festival beauty products?
