I’m not sure where I’d be without my Dad. I’m 39 this year, and I still lean on my Dad for so many things. He offers me great career advice, is the person I call when my car ‘makes a funny noise’, he turns up happily with a spade and secateurs when I need help in the garden… or a drill and screwdriver when any DIY needs doing! He will spend hours happily playing dollies or puzzles with Alba (or making her Grandad’s special ‘banana porridge’) and though I won’t share the photos, he’s even been known to don a Blippi outfit just to make her smile. I’m not sure he would have expected that I’d depend on him for quite so much now I’m almost 40 myself, but I’m incredibly grateful that he’s always there for me whenever I need him.
An engineer by trade, my partner Liam is just as handy with a drill and screwdriver; but as he works long hours in a physically demanding job, he isn’t always quite as keen to pick up the tools in his spare time! So we’re both very lucky to have my Dad close by for those occasions when furniture assembly is a two-person job, or when our garage is not quite as well equipped (I haven’t quite reached the stage of owning a pressure washer or a masonry drill). What Liam lacks in enthusiasm for DIY however, he makes up for in willingness to come straight home from work and pick up parenting duties – immediately swooping in and scooping up Alba amidst thrilled cries of “Daddy!” What they both have in common is being the best kind of Dad you could wish for, and yet asking very little in return.
For this reason, I’ll be making sure to celebrate and spoil both of them on this coming Father’s Day (18th June). In putting their families first, I think it’s fair to say that both my Dad and Liam often put ‘self-care’ on the back-burner, so this year I thought I’d provide them both with some pampering themed Father’s Day gifts to help them enjoy some much needed time out.
A skincare set was an easy choice as a gift for Liam – he’s recently become quite dedicated to his skincare regime (a big step up from simply washing his face in the shower!) I really rate Boots’ No7 products, so their Men’s Skincare Bundle or individual items like the Energising Supercharge Serum will help keep his skin healthy and hydrated and be the perfect pick-me-up after a long day at work. Another great option is the L’Oreal Men Expert Hydra Energetic Gift Set, which includes a face wash, moisturiser, and eye roll-on to combat signs of fatigue and leave the skin looking refreshed and energised.
The Boots Gifts For Dad section is a treasure trove of ideas for Father’s Day gifts; catering to various preferences and interests. If the father figure in your life takes pride in his grooming routine, consider the Harry’s Chrome Gift Set. This stylish and practical gift set includes high-quality grooming tools that will elevate his daily routine. With its sleek design, it will also add a touch of sophistication to his bathroom shelf. It’s a fabulous present that combines style and functionality.
Aftershave is a timeless and classic gift choice that never fails to impress, whether you’re re-buying their signature scent or picking them up a fragrance you just know they’ll love. Consider the Hugo Boss Bottled Parfum for a scent that exudes confidence and elegance. Its rich and luxurious notes will leave a lasting impression. Alternatively, the Gucci Guilty Pour Homme offers a seductive and captivating aroma, perfect for dads who prefer a more alluring fragrance. The Boots Gifts for Him range has a diverse selection of aftershaves, ensuring that you’ll find the perfect match for your dad’s unique preferences.
So, this Father’s Day, I’ll be giving the men in my life the gift of self-care with skincare sets, grooming tools, and aftershave from Boots. I hope that these thoughtful and practical gifts will show my appreciation for everything they both do, and allow them to enjoy some well-deserved pampering.
