Green Chef review: my experience of the organic meal delivery service and voucher code for a free box

This year, one of my new year’s resolutions was to cut down on both my food waste and my spending in the supermarket by more effectively planning our meals for the week.  I also wanted to make sure we were eating more of a balanced diet, as in December we definitely fell into the trap of relying on the Deliveroo app at dinnertime a little too often for my liking! Although I’ve enjoyed getting the recipe books out for our weekly meal plans, most weeks we’ve also been using the Green Chef meal kits to add a bit more variety into the week (and take some of the stress of thinking up seven dinners!)  I think we’re on about our tenth box now so I thought I’d share my experiences (and a code for a free box if you’re thinking of trying it yourself).

Green Chef is a meal delivery service that offers a variety of healthy meal options for those who follow a vegetarian, flexitarian, or keto diet. The service delivers fresh, pre-portioned ingredients to your doorstep on a weekly basis, making meal preparation quick and easy.   One of the things I immediately noticed, was the quality of the ingredients – all of which are organic, non-GMO, and sustainably sourced. Each recipe includes easy-to-follow instructions that ensure you can cook a delicious and healthy meal in 30 minutes or less.  I’ve previously tried Hello Fresh and Gousto but I’ve found Green Chef are the most accurate in terms of the cooking times (I’d often find Hello Fresh recipes took me twice as long to prepare!)

Before I started using Green Chef I actually thought they were a purely plant-based meal kit service but that’s actually not the case at all (although they do have amazing vegan and vegetarian options).  Now that we’ve tried so many of their meals I can absolutely attest to just how delicious they all are – every single one has been a hit in our household.  Some of our favourites: the rosemary and garlic butter rump steak was tender and juicy, and the seasoning was just right. The spiced cod tacos were bursting with flavor, and the pork burrito bowls were hearty and satisfying. The creamy prawn chowder was rich and flavorful, with just the right amount of creaminess. Overall, the meals were thoughtfully crafted and made with high-quality, fresh ingredients that were a pleasure to eat – which is why we’ve kept getting them week after week for about three months now.
We signed up for three meals per week, and they come pre-packed and boxed up on our designated delivery day.  The fresh ingredients are all packaged with ice packs in an insulated bag so you don’t have to be home to receive the delivery, and they’re all packed in separate bags that correspond to each meal, so you don’t have to go digging through the box to work out which ingredient goes with each meal.
