Christmas at Cosmo

Champagne pouring at Cosmo

Last week I was invited to kick off the Christmas party season with an evening at Cosmo in Southampton – drinking fizz and tucking into the array of yummy food they have on offer.  I hadn’t visited a Cosmo restaurant before, and for those of you that also haven’t, they describe themselves as a ‘world buffet’, with over 150 dishes including Indian, Japanese, Italian, pizza and lots more.  If you’re anything like me and ridiculously indecisive when it comes to choosing what to order from a menu when at a restaurant, this is the perfect way to have a little bit of everything.

As soon as we arrived we were treated to a bottle of Taittinger champagne, which was rather a nice treat (and very indulgent on a school night!)  The restaurant itself was packed which I was quite surprised at for a Thursday night, but for £16 for all you can eat from the buffet, it’s very good value and there were a lot of families there tucking into the array of food on offer.

Sushi at Cosmo

We started with sushi and Chinese food and it was really good – I was very impressed with the amount of options and the flavours and dishes on offer.  We then had a rather beige course of pizza, mozzarella balls, chicken and pasta.  We paused to watch the teppanyaki chef cooking up lots of delicious looking Japanese food (the tiger prawns and steak looked amazing), and then moved onto the desserts.

The highlight of the dessert section is of course the chocolate fountains…

We rather enthusiastically got stuck in, dipping endless amounts of marshmallows in the fountains (and then going back for seconds!) We were completely stuffed by the end of the evening, and I was really impressed with both the sheer amount of choice, and quality of the food on offer.  The Chinese food was definitely my favourite and I’d like to go back again to tuck into more of their sushi and crispy duck rolls – yum!

It was a great evening and the perfect way to help Cosmo celebrate the launch of their Christmas menu, as well as the restaurant’s first birthday – I can’t believe it’s already a year since the eateries in the West Quay Watermark development opened their doors.
