Okay so first things first – happy Christmas Eve! I am a strange mix of excitement and also ‘how did this happen, it was only September yesterday’. I always get a bit of the Christmas sads because it feels over before it’s even started and it flies by so quickly. I hope that wherever you are you get some time to chill and enjoy the festive period, and make the most of time with family and friends (but read this first, I mean, don’t shut down quite yet!)
Secondly, I need to tell you something that you may not already know, and is going to change your life. There is a biscuit filled with caramel that you put on top of your mug when having a coffee or hot chocolate, and it goes all soft and goo-ey and basically amazing. If you did already know this then I’m sorry for wasting your time. But if like me, you didn’t, then read on (and get ye to the nearest supermarket for some Daelman’s Stroopwafels…)
So naturally as soon as some of these treats popped through my letterbox I brewed up some of my favourite hot chocolate (and a coffee for Tom) and we had a little caramel waffle coffee/hot chocolate morning. Once you’ve made your hot drink of choice, you place the biscuit on the rim of the mug and wait a few minutes for it to get all melt-y and yummified. It is literally the best.
I think I am going to spend the festive period drinking hot chocolate and dipping melt-y caramel Stroopwafels in it to make up for the 30 years of my life that I did not know that this was a thing – I encourage you to do the same! They are also amazing with ice cream too, FYI. If you have any more suggestions for how these divine waffles can be eaten then please do let me know….
