Fair Isle

I just love dressing for winter.  Cosy cardigans, shearling lined boots, bobble hats and plaid shirts all tend to rock my world when it gets a bit chillier.  What’s not to like about being able to hide those ‘I opted for lie-ins instead of morning runs and ate an entire box of Matchmakers on most days in December’ extra pounds under layered knits and big comfy coats.  Although I love days of doing ‘chic’ winter dressing – my long, black Zara coat, tailored trousers and heels – I also love having days of more fun winter dressing; Christmas jumpers, hats, jeans and trainers.  I couldn’t resist wearing my new Superdry cardigan on the day we went to pick up our Christmas tree and put up our decorations.  I bought it at Bicester Village a couple of weeks ago – I love how the fair isle is quite Christmassy without being ‘in your face Christmas jumper’.  It feels like it has a bit more of a lifespan that just around the festive period and I love the royal blue colour.

I teamed it with my latest bargain, a Quiksilver/Roxy coat found in TK Maxx.  It had a £150 price tag in it but its TK Maxx price was £24.99.  It’s super warm and again I love the bright blue colour.  I have bought far too many coats this year but I don’t have another short coat like this so I felt (slightly) justified. Plus

I can’t help myself with a bargain!

cardigan and shirt, both superdry {shirt – old, cardigan £35 at outlet}
jeans: asos {old} // shoes: keds chukka boots // hat: primark mens

coat in 2nd photo, TK Maxx, £24.99 // backpack: beara beara, won in Gem’s giveaway

I also seem to be rather falling for men’s accessories at the moment.  This hat is Primark menswear and I love this Gant scarf from Peter Hahn. I also bought some baggy Disney jumpers from Primark men’s section the other day. They look cute teamed with leggings and my latest pair of Vans (a maroon pair).  I can’t wait to break up from work for Christmas and pack all my favourite casual, comfy items to take away when we’re visiting friends and family. There’s something about Christmas that makes me want to try and avoid getting out of my PJs letting alone getting dressed up (except for Christmas parties and Christmas Day of course!) What’s your clothing of choice during the winter months?
