All is full of love

Since we renovated the conservatory it has made a real difference to the bottom floor of our house, as when you come through the front door, rather than seeing only up to a curtained off area you can now see into the conservatory and through into the garden.  It’s made everywhere so much lighter and I love sitting and eating my dinner at the table whilst gazing into the garden or watching the fish swimming around into the fishtank.

It’s made a real feature of our dining table too as it’s now a divider between the lounge and the conservatory (as well as the sliding doors).  I like filling the table with candles, flowers, pictures and other things to bring cheer to the room.  Of course in a few weeks this will be full of more candles, wooden reindeer, glass bottles with holly sprigs in and other Christmass-y treats! Decorating the house and getting a tree is one of my favourite things to do in the Christmas period, it’s so much fun putting your own touches to a festive theme.

Currently, our dining table and mantelpiece are filled with the most beautiful collection of engagement cards. We are truly blessed to have so many amazing friends and family who have sent kind words and wishes.  We have been so touched by the outpouring of love and the sheer thoughtfulness we have been shown.  It makes me smile every time I come into the room.  You may have spotted my beautiful R print too which is taking pride of place in the centre of the table – isn’t it gorgeous? It’s by Lucy Loves This – her hand pulled typographic prints are sold in Liberty in London as well as lots of independent shops and online retailers. The animal alphabet prints are by far my favourite – I realise they are probably more at home in a child’s bedroom but I think they look great in a grown up house too! Tom has been eyeing up the T print too so it might end up under the tree if he’s a good boy! I think they’re such good value for a framed print and there are tote bags, teatowels and other prints on the site that would make great Christmas presents.

I mentioned in my last post that the whole idea of planning a wedding and being engaged seems quite surreal and I haven’t quite got my head round it yet (which isn’t to say I’m not excited, because I am!).  I am really not the sort of girl who has had their wedding planned out since they were little so I’m having to consult friends, wedding blogs and Pinterest to understand all of the things that go into a wedding, and gather ideas. I’ve also bought myself a few books to pore over, and of course the Rock and Roll Bride magazine had to be ordered – there are so many beautiful wedding ideas in there!

As well as the excitement of wedding planning, I couldn’t help get a little excited when I saw the new M&S Christmas advert (you can view it on YouTube here) as it’s really got me in the mood for Christmas – not to mention the fact that it features an adorable little dog, a lot of the absolutely stunning Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, David Gandy and some rather gorgeous clothes and underwear.  What more could you want? M&S have rather treated me this year by sending me a box of Christmassy treats which I’m trying to save at least a little longer until it’s more legitimate to tuck into mince pies and mulled wine (unless it is already…) M&S, hands down, always do the best Christmas food and I’m sure I’ll be picking up more of that Blackberry and Gin Fizz and chocolate truffles after I’ve polished these off! (By the way, they are chocolate brussel sprouts!)

What’s been putting a smile on your face this week?
