A floral tulip skirt

Another busy week, another longer absence from the blog than I’d prefer! Some months I’ve been able to blog almost every day but I’ve definitely missed a few already this month.  The fact that this outfit post is a workwear post is a reflection of the fact that the mornings are the only time I have daylight for outfit posts at the moment – I’ve had several nights over the last few weeks where I come home to darkness which wouldn’t be so bad if I didn’t start work at 8.30.  But I don’t need to worry about that for a couple of weeks as I’m here there and everywhere until almost the end of the month now, and none of that is in the office!

On Sunday we go to a hotel near us for a couple of nights as part of a Red Letter Days voucher I won in a competition – the hotel is not far from us but I love the idea of being able to do all the tourist-y things nearby that we haven’t had a chance to do since we moved here! We’ll be taking our bikes (and Bodhi!) and doing some exploring, having a couple of nice dinners out and probably drinking lots of cider as I booked it for the weekend the town has its apple pressing weekend – think trips to a cider farm on a tractor and lots of cider tasting!

On Wednesday I’ve booked us into a yurt for a couple of nights in Wales (in the Wye Valley).  The yurt has a wood-burning stove and a rolltop bath and just looks amazing, not to mention being set on a hillside with some breathtaking scenery.  From there we go on to a holiday cottage nearby with some of my family to celebrate my Mum’s 60th birthday for a few days – the holiday cottage looks equally beautiful and I’m looking forward to more lazing around, reading books, going on walks and pub dinners! The day I arrive home I’ll be swapping suitcases and going off on a leadership course in Surrey for three days. No rest for the wicked eh?

I’m hoping I can snatch some internet here and there and I’ll also schedule some bits in before I go – I have quite a lot of exciting things to show you, some outfits and I also want to share with you the huge pile of books I’ll be taking with me and get any more recommendations for must-reads! Of course I’ll be taking my cameras with me and I can’t wait to show you the places I’m visiting!

For now though, here is an outfit from this week.  This is what I wore to work on Tuesday I think.  A lot of it is old stuff actually – the skirt was from Zara from a couple of years ago and never quite fit me properly so having lost a little weight it’s gratifying to be able to take it out of the wardrobe and give it a new lease of life!

cardigan: matalan // shirt: ebay £14.99 [search for oxford shirts] //

skirt: zara [old] // buckle ankle boots: old. similar from blink on spartoo

bag: marks and spencers [old] // watch: daniel wellington £179*

I’m not sure I really ever get it right with my workwear, I always feel too overdressed or too casual, too summer-y in winter and too winter-y in summer.  I do like the splash of colours this skirt provides though and though it is very summer-y I think it looks okay with tights too.

I hope you’ve all had lovely weeks so far, three cheers for Friday!
