French Connection Summer Bug dress

French Connection’s Spring Collection has really had me swooning recently – all summer bloom prints, embroidered tunics and nautical blues.  It’s so frustrating when you’re itching for weather befitting of the S/S collections and yet still shivering in big ol’ winter coats, get a clue weather! In particular their Spring Bloom Flared Dress makes me yearn for a nearby cornfield to run through whilst soaking up sunshine and swishing the skirt (bit of a tongue twister that).

I recently received this Summer Bug Collar Dress from their site and it’s just so pretty – fully lined and in delicate linen with a contrasting colour – I’m in love.  Sadly the temperatures are nowhere near warm enough for any item of clothing with ‘summer’ in its name and so I donned some spotty tights and a blazer (then tried it with a cardigan – sometimes lovely items take a bit of experimenting with styling as you so want to get it right – note the swapping of shoes in the last photo too!)

dress: french connection* £97 | tights: primark [old]

shoes: dune [old] // cardigan in 2nd photo: fever [old]

high heels: [old] similar: café noir at spartoo shoes [found here] – £83

I feel like it will be perfect for summer workwear, or even a summer wedding (someone get married and invite me, yes?) Just looking at that last photo really makes me laugh, I swear all the Easter chocolate I’ve eaten has gone straight to my face, Double Chin Debbie or what? Or maybe it’s just the angle.  Or the light.  Yes definitely the light….  (Not the 3lbs I’ve put on in the last week, oops!) I’m cringing a little at my roots in these photos but also super excited as on Friday I’m going to the hairdressers for the first time I’ve ever had it professionally coloured! I took in some photos and they say they can get it the same silver-y blonde my hair is in some bits at the moment, but actually all over which will be a step up from what it is now! Obvs I’ll probably still overdose on the purple shampoo to make it a bit lilac-y too, don’t want to step too far away from what Tom calls my ‘blue rinse’!

Hope you’ve all had exciting Wednesdays so far.  I’ve only had a half day at work today as I’m going to a Benefit Fake Up event in Bournemouth later this afternoon, I’m super excited to try it as I’ve heard rave reviews!  Will be lovely to see some local bloggers again too, big up #bmouthbloggers! I’m pretty excited that it’s halfway through the week already too, got to love a long weekend for making the following week go that little bit quicker…
