Weekend in Weymouth

We have literally had the best weekend this weekend, I can't believe we've packed so much in but it's such a nice feeling to have really made the most of it.  We drove down to Weymouth on Friday night to stay with Tom's parents for the weekend.  On Saturday we dropped in on one of Tom's friend's in the surf shop he walks in in the morning and went for a long walk in Thorncombe Woods near Dorchester with Bodhi and Tom's parents and niece in the afternoon. In the evening we got all dressed up and went to a Coastguard awards ceremony.  I was so proud of Tom as he received a letter of commendation for an incident just over a year ago where he and a colleague pulled a guy out of the water in Weymouth Harbour and essentially saved his life (he had got his legs caught up in fishing pots and was hypothermic when they pulled him out).  After the ceremony we went on to a cool pub/restaurant on the Quay that specialises in pizzas, pies and ciders (my kind of place) and then on to one more pub and then home.

Today we took Bodhi for a walk along the beach in the morning and then met up with some friends and walked up to The White Horse (the giant white horse carved into the hill in chalk) which was a really hard walk (steep hills are not my friend) but had an amazing view from the top.  It has been such a beautiful day today hasn't it? Haven't seen blue skies like that in a long time, makes me so excited for Spring and Summer! After a quick (diet) coke at the pub at the end of the walk we had lunch with Tom's parents and then drove back home - currently sorting through all the washing and looking forward to an early night!

Here are a few snaps from the weekend - have you been enjoying the lovely weather too?

Glad you had a lovely weekend, it's been so bright and clear this weekend that it was hard for me spending a fair bit of it on the train, but got to see my friend and her new baby so not all bad!

    1. I have a Panasonic Lumix FZ28 - it's a bridge camera with a fixed lens but it's so good for taking out on walks as it's light enough to carry around but has full manual control. Takes great pictures too as it has a Leica lens. I bought it second hand for about £150.
Thanks about the wellies and glasses - they're just clear lenses but they were the only glasses I had with me that had any UV protection so I had to wear them to shield me from the sunshine!

  24. Awww what a lovely weekend Rosie, glad you had a good one and the weather looks just lovely. I'm a bit in love with your Small Victory Tee also...

T was here this weekend, and it was really nice. We didn't end up actually *doing* anything, but it was good to enjoy just being. Currently on the come down, and the 2 day stage we go through after being within 250 miles, of hating long distance, wishing we were closer together.

Your two boys are looking very handsome Rosie, glad to hear you so proud, and couldn't be more pleased to see some good things for you, after a more difficult time.
