Home window shopping, and cupcakes

Because the English property laws are c-razy and mean that our buyer (or the seller) could legally pull out of the sale up to the moment when you exchange contracts (after all of the other legal work is done) I have been unable to do any actual shopping for our new house until we get to that stage (hopefully early next week).  Instead I have been gathering lots of inspirational photographs and virtually planning our decorating scheme in my head for the last two months, and getting excited in advance for the day we can start buying things for our new abode.

I was looking today for a website or program that would let you collate photos and webpages you’ve found so I could store all my inspiration in one place and found Evernote. Does anyone else use it? You can drag and drop photos into the program and save them as notes within notebooks, and there are apps so that you can snap photos and upload them to your ‘notebooks’ too.  I have the app for my iPhone and have been snapping photos out of home magazines to save them all in one place.  I think it would be a really useful program for fashion or craft projects too as you could snap inspiration from books, magazines and websites rather than storing them on your computer or phone.

This is what mine looks like so far:

The main photo is from a lovely blog I found earlier called Love Made Me Do It.  The photographs on the blog of their house, and previous home are so inspirational to me because the style is exactly the sort of thing I am hoping for in our new house.  Aren’t they just so whimsical and beautiful?

I have also been furiously favouriting lots of treats in Etsy to fill our home with; I think I will do another blog next week with all my Etsy finds as I love reading about other peoples and coming across new sellers that I like.

Yesterday we had my brother and his girlfriend over to stay and went out for a lovely dinner at a nearby Italian restaurant.  Because I love to bake I decided to prepare some maltesers cupcakes for their visit, using this recipe from Good Food, found, and baked by Lucy in her post here last week.  I also added some Horlicks to the mix, and the icing to give it that really malt-y taste… like maltesers!

Here are some snaps of my bake-athon.

The recipe calls for maltesers in the mix, so here they are poking out, pre icing

Here they are all iced with maltesers on top

I have to say, they are really yummy and very moorish! Thanks again to Lucy for the idea.

Even though we went out last night for dinner, me and the other half are being naughty and going out again tonight to meet some friends at a steakhouse/American themed restaurant called Buffalo Bill’s.  Yum!
